Yuko NAKAJIMA
Visual artist / Photographer
Born in Tokyo, Japan / Lives in Berlin, Germany.
Yuko Nakajima studied photography at Nihon University, Faculty of Fine Arts (BFA) and worked at Eiichiro Sakata in Japan.
She is a Multifaceted Photographer and an Artist with a focus on human interaction, memory, and spirituality. Her project combines past and present, individual and community, offering profound insights and powerful impressions. She has been working with a medium format film camera ever since she was a student at the university.

In 2017, she moved to Berlin, Germany.
In Tokyo, she created "A chest"(2015), a work on the theme of her great grandmother's chest and its memory.
and The Blue of SAYONARA (2014-2016). a work on the theme Blue which was inspired by the words of Yves Klein.
After moving to Berlin, she developed the project 'The Trinity - Place, Community and Spirituality', which reinterprets faith and religious imagery from a contemporary perspective.This project has been exhibited in Berlin (Germany), Riga (Latvia), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Tokyo and Hokkaido (Japan). She presents the "Thick Forest of Dachgeschoss" in Berlin in the summer of 2023.

東京生まれ、ドイツ・ベルリン在住
日本大学芸術学部写真学科卒業後、坂田栄一郎氏に師事する。
過去と現在、個人とコミュニティを結びつけ、人間の相互作用、記憶、および精神性に焦点を当てた作品を制作している。大学時代から一貫して中盤フィルムカメラで撮影を続けている。

曾祖母の箪笥とその記憶をテーマにした作品『A chest』(2015)、イヴ・クラインの言葉から着想を得た「青」をテーマにした作品『The Blue of SAYONARA』(2014-2016)を制作。渡独後、信仰と宗教的表現を現代の視点から写真で再解釈した『The Trinity -place, community and spirituality-』(2017-2021)を制作する。同作品はベルリン(ドイツ)、リガ(ラトビア)、アムステルダム(オランダ)、東京、北海道(日本)で展示されている。
2023年夏に新しいプロジェクト『Thick Forest of Dachgeschoss / ダッハゲショッスの森』をベルリンで発表。
